Hi, I'm Brooke.

A lawyer turned breath educator and author of the forthcoming book The Breath Reset Plan. I live on Garigal land on Sydney’s Northern Beaches and I teach yoga and Pilates teachers, health and wellness professionals and therapists to work with breathing in a way that is precise, practical and grounded in science as well as the yogic roots of pranayama.

I’m fascinated by the moment knowledge becomes behaviour. When breath science stops being only something you learn and starts being something your body can express. When nervous system education doesn’t stay theoretical, it becomes usable in the peaks and crests of a normal day. When yogic breathing is taught with roots and context, so it feels like a living practice rather than a set of scripts repeated from memory.

That’s how I teach. We start with the why, because physiology changes the way you practise. Then we establish a functional baseline and tailor from there, because no breath practice lands the same way in two different bodies. Once we know your starting point, we choose and dose practices with precision, and train them until they show up in real life.

Working With Me

I help people experience changes in their breathing that are compelling enough to climb their list of priorities. No more “should” because they’ve heard it’s powerful. This becomes a can’t live without because it fundamentally changes how they live in their body.

For Teachers & Professionals

I help teachers, coaches and clinicians develop real fluency with breath so they can guide their students and clients with authority and confidence.

Most of my teaching with professionals happens through longer trainings and shorter immersions. In the six month trainings and three day immersions, we learn how breathing works through the same dimensions used in research, then thread that understanding back into your real world work so you can assess baseline patterns, personalise practice, and progress skills over time with confidence and integrity. We focus on discernment over scripts, so you know how to choose the right entry point and dose for the person in front of you.

For Individuals

I work one to one with people navigating breathing related challenges such as anxiety and chronic stress, sleep disruption, breathlessness, burnout, pregnancy related changes, and long standing health patterns that haven’t shifted with wellness routines or supportive care. When sleep disordered breathing is suspected, I help you make sense of the signs and support the referral pathway alongside breath retraining.

My one to one work is reserved for a small number of people at a time, so we can look closely at your breathing patterns, subjective experience and objective data. We track simple metrics over time and build a program that fits the reality of your life, so progress isn’t dependent on an ideal schedule that only exists on paper.

Whichever door people come through, we explore the same central question:

What becomes possible when breath is woven into the pillars you already know: sleep, movement, gut health, connection and awareness, and into the ordinary moments you prioritise?

How I Work With Breath

I approach breath as both physiology and behaviour.

I focus on:

  • Functional breathing as a baseline

  • Carbon dioxide tolerance and and the capacity to be with air hunger

  • Mechanics and airway health

  • Stress accumulation and allostatic load

  • The meeting point of body, mind, and identity

I pay close attention to where common breath cues, from gyms to yoga classes, unintentionally reinforce dysregulation, and to the gap in breath education for those positioned as “experts.” Too often, people are taught one method, one theory, or overly simplified nervous system models that don’t reflect the lived reality of a diverse range of bodies.

My work centres on personalisation. Every person brings a unique airway story, injury history, temperament, posture, and belief system. Almost every breath practice has a place- what matters is knowing when to use it, why, and in what dose

My own practice is part science lab, part ritual - ranging from formal pranayama and yoga nidra to nasal breathing in the surf between sets.

How I Got Here

Before breathwork, I was a lawyer - living in seven-minute increments, disconnected from my body, and quietly unravelling inside.

A tight throat, dizziness, numbness, heaviness, and a constant hum of unease eventually led me to discover that I was chronically over-breathing, and that my symptoms were linked to dysfunctional breathing patterns.

Learning to breathe differently gave me steadiness, clarity and, ultimately, a new path.

I left the law and immersed myself in yoga, movement and breath study, learning from teachers including Noelle Connolly, Meghan Currie, Maty Ezraty and Gwyn Williams. Over time, I went deeply into research, clinical work and embodied experimentation. Breath became the thread running through everything.

The Breath Reset Plan

Since 2024 I have been writing The Breath Reset Plan, which will be published by Affirm Press in February 2026. The book brings together modern respiratory science, affective neuroscience and classical pranayama in a three-part plan for nervous system transformation: understanding breath, breath resets and state shifts. It shows how everyday breathing shapes mood, pain, energy and even identity, and offers practical tools to change long-held patterns from the inside out. It is rooted in mind–body connection, and the same principles that shape the book are woven through every training and mentoring space I offer.

If you would like to work together

If you are breath curious, science minded and also love the energetics of practice, and you want to bring this depth of understanding into your own body and your work with others, you are very welcome here. Whether you teach, coach or care for people professionally, or you are navigating breathing related issues in your own health, there is something for you.

You can explore current trainings, immersions and one to one mentoring through the rest of this site and choose the format that best fits the season you are in. If you would like to host me at your studio, event or festival for a training or lecture, you can reach out through the contact page and we can look at what will serve your community best.
